Why not ask the journal’s editor!

 

After months of research work, you write up your results, submit the manuscript to the journal that tops your wish list and… it gets rejected! Unfortunately, rejected without even going through the peer review process. Well, you’re not alone. According to Elsevier, the largest academic publisher, up to 50 percent of the manuscripts it receives do not make it to peer review. This percentage is much higher for leading journals; for instance, Science rejects roughly 80 percent at the pre-peer review stage.

So how do you increase the chances of peer review?
